About
Our team has over 75 years of combined experience in the Egyptian sailing tradition, and our skilled captains continue to pass on this specialized trade to the next generation. We have over 15 years of combined experience in leading tours throughout Egypt. This includes accommodating specific guest requests, while also leaving room for spontaneity and surprise. One of our founders speaks multiple languages and we provide translation for a multitude of languages and dialects. We are connected to the Original People along the Nile River and across Egypt, and prioritize Right Relationship and maintaining these connections with authenticity, dignity and transparency.

El Nur Tours contributes to the communities we tour as we go.
This looks a number of different ways, including:
- Supporting women to learn skills, such as carpet making, in order to start their own business
- Providing food and supplies to People along the River in a good way
- Giving to communities who are stewarding the land and water
- Investing in seeds and supplies for farmers
- and much, much more...
El Nur cultivates and fosters relationships with Original People throughout the country and supports grassroots programs and initiatives for communities to better meet their needs. We do this work through opening access, removing barriers, connecting people, writing grants and partnering with organizations to redistribute resources.
We offer Right Relationship training in an effort to increase awareness, reduce unintentional harm and transform consumptive tourism trends into reciprocal relationships. El Nur holds conversations and invites the Original People to the table so that, through their participation and sharing, we can better understand their needs, build community, provide mutual aid and include perspectives that are representative of the areas we inhabit.
El Nur offers the opportunity for those who can afford to travel with us to offset the cost of those who typically can not access travel. We have a program that is transparent and inclusive.
FAQ
Egypt’s high season is October through February. The weather is pleasant, providing access to a multitude of lived experience opportunities. While we can plan tours outside of this time period, additional preparation is needed.
Yes, it is safe to visit Egypt, especially with the right team. A majority of Egypt’s economic development comes from tourism and therefore measures are put into place, at a national and local level, to prioritize health and safety for travelers. However, having an experienced, vetted team from Egypt in every aspect of the trip is important and should be a priority for anyone planning a trip.
We do trips from 7 days to one month in length, but our recommended trip length is 10 days. Ten days allows time and space to remain flexible, engage in spontaneous opportunities, and meet everyone's needs.
Yes, we encourage families to bring their children. El Nur Tours is one of the only companies providing family tours, as we believe that global perspective is vital in the family unit, and we welcome the opportunity. We recommend traveling with at least one adult for every two children. We ask that you consider the age of the children. While we're able to accommodate any age, children 7+ are the best fit.
is this something El Nur can accommodate?
Yes, we are able to meet special needs and considerations, for families, seniors and populations of people that require more assistance. Our intake process determines these needs and helps put plans into place to ensure comfortability and access.
